Background

After six years in sales and support with Hewlett-Packard and ten years of moonlighting as a PC consultant, Michael M. Myers founded The Better Information Group in January, 1993. TBIG specializes in developing easy-to-use, customized software so businesses can use information technology to improve productivity and profitability.

TBIG has a proven track record of application development and implementation with more than two dozen mission-critical installations in the Southeast. Michael M. Myers spent many years in preparation for these responsibilities. Before his tenure at Hewlett-Packard, he completed a Ph.D. in Institutional Research from the University of Virginia and started the computer center at the Southern Regional Education Board in Atlanta.

TBIG developed database applications to track the data Advertising Review, Annual Financial Advisor Interviews, Audit Planning, Branch Liability Insurance Tracking, Branch Manager Review, Continuing Education, Monthly Compliance Reports, and Outside Business Activity. We have replaced much of the paperwork correspondence with email, increasing the productivity of Compliance Advisors.

Statistics for National Football League team

TBIG developed a database that captures a stream of GSIS Cumulative Game Stats from NFL headquarters and summarizes the statistics for display on the giant television screens on the two scoreboards. This team has appeared in the Super Bowl.

Recruiting application for broker / dealer

TBIG designed a database application for helping recruiters contact and communicate with prospects who might want to join the company. The software has helped the company grow substantially in the last five years.

Parts tracking for NASCAR team

 TBIG implemented a database that stores historical information on parts, races, and tracks to help the team identify the best combination for speed. This team has won several races in recent years.

Capital Improvement Projects for Water Utilities

TBIG designed a database application, used by several water utilities, that helps management with budgeting for large projects and balancing the funding and expenditures for years into the future. The application includes a graphical Schedule that displays time and expenditures for all the projects.  Also, a user can enter an inflation rate and the application will calculate future expenditures with a compound rate of inflation. Screens and reports display 10 years of data dynamically: for example, when 2003 is entered as the first Fiscal Year, columns for 2003 - 2012 are shown; when 2006 is entered, columns show funding and expenditures for 2006 - 2015.

Sales management application for broker / dealer

TBIG developed a database application for sales management that is used to track branch and financial advisor production and calculate statistics for decision making. It includes a mapping feature that displays the locations of branches in the United States. Sales management uses the application communicate production data with branches and financial advisors.

Department Budgeting

TBIG partnered with local utility to design a database application that helps a CFO work with department managers to develop budgets interactively. It allows managers to track both budget requests  and revised budget approvals. Managers can include FICA, retirement plan funding, and Workers Compensation for employees in budget projections.

Recruiting application for doctor placement

TBIG developed a database application for helping a staffing firm recruit and place oncology staff for temporary and permanent positions in medical facilities.

Complaint tracking application for broker / dealer

TBIG designed an application used for tracking client complaints, correspondence, and settlements. The quarterly report that is required by the National Association for Security Dealers was automated as a data upload to save dozens of hours of data entry.
